The stadium goes up

The stadium from our balcony

The view of our brand new stadium form the front of our house and B and B. It’s about a 15 minute walk.

Green Point is a whole lot more than the stadium and Urban park, however right now with the 2010 Soccer World Cup it’s everything.

Much hullaballoo in the circulating e-mails about what life and times during the world cup will be like. Apparently we should expect traffic delays, food scarcity, inflated prices most transport will have limited or no availability.

Meanwhile all is well on the home front. The new urban park is being completed and the sound of building and heavy duty vehicles emanates from Green Point Common. Another warm day today, going to be 34′ C. Soccer Cup will be in winter.

Roads no more

It’s 107 days to go to the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup. With the stadium and park in full view from our guesthouse we can see how renovations are progressing. I wanted to share the excitement as we watch our city metamorphosize and prepare for this spectacular event. How much closer to the action could I be?

Anticipation for visitors is high. The papers have had a stream of stories relating to our readiness, rules and regulations we have to adhere to and people out to exploit visitors, or not, as in some cases. Let’s see how this unfolds.
